Panels, Talks and Demos – Wrap up of ROSCon2024
What a GREAT ROSCon 2024.
A big shout out to the organisers at Open Robotics and the #RosCon2024 organisers as this was the biggest ROSCon to date with almost 1000 attendees and being sold out over a month in advance.
For those not able to attend here are some of the numbers
Location – Odense Denmark
975 Attendees (+300 remote)
>50 countries
>300 companies
>70 universities
45 sponsors (one being Asimovo and also IEEE Robotics and Automation Society for the first time)
~45million ROS downloads per month, now about 75% ROS 2 and 25% ROS
ROSCon 2025 – wi;; be taking place in SINGAPORE
Asimovo were not only a proud sponsor and able to bring two junior robotics engineers to ROSCon for the first time, we were able to participate in a whole range of activities.
Our Founder Christine Fraser was the moderator in the panel discussing ROS2 in deployment. Speaking with Guillaume Doisy of Dexory, Seungmin Baek of LG Electronics and Xenia Scholl of Aitonomi Group
We also were on the stage a few times with Christine presenting the work we have been doing with SURF and some of the Dutch universities and research projects. Our Robotics Engineer Javier Navarro Martínez also presented a lighting talk on our work with NXP Semiconductors.
There were also chances to demo our product at the booth and at the new demo area. We even managed to invite Stella from Ahead.IO onto the demo stage as an update to last years lightning talk on “Teaching a Robot Dog new skills” and updating her operating system to ROS 2. Ahead.IO
In addition to the core Asimovo activities our CEO and Founder also attended ROSCon as an Industry Activities Board representative of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society .
The Industry Activities Board (IAB) is responsible for guess what – Activities that engage with the IEEE RAS Robotics community and this was one of the first non-IEEE conferences we have been able to support. It was the first time IEEE RAS had a presence as an organisation at ROSCon.
There is such a deep connection between IEEE RAS and Open Robotics and the ROS community. Both are about enabling communities around robotics, both believe strongly in diversity, inclusivity, nurturing talent and giving back.
In addition to having a small booth so attendees could find out about membership at IEEE RAS we also ran a workshop style session on Entrepreneurship and Manufacturing. We created a 2hour interactive session based on the manufacturing framework curriculum developed by IEEE RAS IAB
IEEE RAS invited speakers to present their lessons learned and potential pitfalls. The session was moderated by myself and Andra Keay.
Speakers included Dr Ingo Keller head of The National Robotarium.
Ingo is a software, AI, and robotics engineer with over 20 years of experience in science and industry, Ingo is leading the National Robotarium’s growing team of robotics engineers as they test and develop new technologies and systems to address real-world challenges. Inho will present some of his learnings from his hands-on experience with many robotic systems,
and Alex M. Santo CEO of Ahead.IO Speaking about their modular approach to robotics design, using 3D repairable parts and standard parts. Ahead.IO is a leading design and innovation station with over 30 years of combined experience. Alex and his team have designed STELLA a modular, repairable robot dog kit.
We were also able to support Hari Lakshman R.B and Revati Naik who volunteered to attend and support the RAS activities at hashtag#roscon2024. Both will return home and plan ways to disseminate similar information in their local ecosystems.
We had a great mix of attendees.

Of course there was also Beer at the afterparty and even a little Danish Pool played.
As discussed at the booth you can now set yourself up with a Freemium account via our website and try the Asimovo platform for yourself. We run 30minute demos for those interested in knowing more or wanting to find out more about our business subscriptions and academic subscriptions.
